        State Archive in Siedlce was brought into being in 1950 by the Head Office of State Archive on the strength of Minister of Education
Entrance
decision on July 21, 1950. Since the moment of created till January 1, 1953 functioned as District State Archive in Siedlce and was supervised by Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw. When Voivodeship State Archive in Warsaw was established, District State Archive became subject to it (1953). In 1957 Voivodeship State Archive in Warsaw changed its name for State Archive for capital city of Warsaw and Warsaw Voivodship. In 1964 District State Archive in Siedlce

transformated into Regional Branch of State Archive for capital city of Warsaw and Warsaw Voivodeship. In this time it embraced the area of Siedlce and districts of Sokołów Podlaski, Węgrów, and Łosice since 1956. In 1965 the extent of the Branch increased as two districts of Ostrów Mazowiecki and Ostrołęka were attached. In 1975 Siedlce became the capital of freshly created voivodeship (on the strength of the Instruction
nr 4 passed by Minister of Education and Technology on January
21, 1976). Regional Branch in Siedlce started to be an institution of voivodeship rank and turned to be Voivodeship State Archive in Siedlce. It reached the area of the voivodeship of Siedlce consisting of former districts; Garwolin, Łuków,

Mińsk Mazowiecki, Siedlce, Sokołów Podlaski, Węgrów. In 1976 Expositure of Voivodeship State Archive in Łuków was brougt into being. It embraced the town of Łuków and area of former Łuków district. Unfortunately, because of local conditions expositure was closed. On the basis of the act on national archival resource and archives dating on July 13, 1983 Voivodeship State Archive in Siedlce changed its name and became State Archive in Siedlce. It did not have any influence on its territorial range. Since
1976 the post of Director of State Archive is held by dr Urszula Głowacka-Maksymiuk. As the result of administration reforms since January 1, 1999 Siedlce became a part of Mazowsze voivodeship.
Study
The activutiy extention has not changed and spread to districts of Garwolin, Łuków, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Siedlce, Sokołów Podlaski, Węgrów and partially Otwock and Wołomin.
