"The inventory of the Siedlce demesne
from the year 1776"

Another source publication of the history of Siedlce, concerning the town's history in the initial stage of its splendour. The inventory of the Siedlce demesne was made at the request of Aleksandra Ogińska, the hetman's wife and heir to Duke Michał Fryderyk Czartoryski - The Grand Chancellor of Lithuania. The hetman's wife inherited the property of Siedlce in the autumn of 1775. The "golden age" of Siedlce dates back to this point, with the town expieriencing a eriod of prosperity in every field - economic, urbanistic and cultural.
Currently the original version of the "Inventory.." from 1776 is kept in the Czartoryski Library in Cracow. This publication was prepared with great care. What is particularily interesting, is the extensive linguistic characteristics of the source. A very good solution is the publication of the
"Inventory..." simultaneously in transciption and transliteration. The book is addressed mostly to professional historians and linguists. However, it would also be indispensable for amateur historians and, above all, to the enthusiasts of the history of Siedlce.

villages and would like to search independently for their genealogical roots. We meet the history of the region, the oldest settlement on the land of Łuków, political and social events of yeomen's settlement and its inhabitants, as well as more meaningful historical figures who were connected with this area by their activity or birthplace (Marcin Jastrzębski, Sebastian i Tomasz Sobiescy, families of Olędzki, Leszczyński, Jastrzębski, Orzechowski). Krystyna Jastrzębska described the activity of conspiracy organisations during War World II and after its ending as the nearest forest complex called Jata was the centre of robbery and partisan groups of different kind until 1947. Separate units of this book are dedicated to Domanice parish and lately established Jastrzebie Śmiary and wealth of Jastrzebie Łupiny, and also the farm in Jastrzebie Kąty which is a lease of Wiśniew Domanice.
